Be Patient....

July 29, 2005
This is a true story which happened in the States. A man came out ofhis home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his three-year-oldson was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck. The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's handsinto pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his sonto the hospital.

Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, hefinally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands. When theboy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocentlysaid, " Daddy,I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "but when aremy fingers going to grow back?" The father went home & committedsuicide.

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or uwish to take revenge. Think first before u lose your patience withsomeone u love. Trucks can be repaired.. Broken bones & hurt feelingsoften can't. Too often we fail to recognise the difference betweenthe person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness isgreater than revenge.

People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. But theactions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever . . .

A man is contemplating suicide, remiscing his previous heartbreaks until he finally remembers his daughter and how happy he was...but is it too late?

Well, wasn't that the darnest thing?

Soul Mate..!!!

July 24, 2005
Once upon a time, there was a teacher and his student. One day theywere lying down under a big tree on a grassy plain. Then, suddenly, the student asked the teacher,
Teacher, I’m confused, how can I find my soul-mate..? Can you please help me..?

Teacher : Silent for few seconds, then he answered, well; it’s a pretty hard and easy question.
Student : (Thinking hard) Huh???
Teacher : Look that way, there’s a lot of grass there, why don’t you walk there, but please never walk backward, just walk straight ahead. On your way, try to find a beautiful blade of grass and pick it up, then give it to me. But just ONE blade of grass!
Student : Well, ok then.. wait for me.. walked straight ahead on the grass field.

A few minutes later..

Student : I’m back.
Teacher : Erm, well I don’t see any beautiful blade of grass in your hand.
Student : On my journey, I found a few beautiful blades of grass, but each time I thought that I would find a better one, so I didn’t pick it up. But I didn’t realize that I’m at the end of the field, and I hadn’t picked up any. ‘Cause you told me not to go back, so I didn’t go back.
Teacher : That’s what happens in real life..

What is the message of this story..? In looking for your soul mate, please don’t always compare and Hope that there will be a better one. By doing that, you’ll waste your lifetime, ’coz remember Time Never Goes Back”.

It applies similarly in finding your ideal life partner, your suitable, career or business opportunity..

Therefore the morale is :
LOVE & GRAB HOLD of the opportunity that you have. Don’t waste time now - Go & get it now . . .

Oakley Thump MP3 Sunglasses

July 23, 2005
Cool right! I like the way it is looks like.It is now available in 256MB and 512MB versions, ably serve the dual purpose of keeping sun out of your eyes while putting music into your ears. And they do have a sort of Riddick-like appeal. But are they cool enough to justify spending $400-500 on an undersized MP3 player and a pair of sunglasses?

Well, uh, the built-in MP3 player does provide good sound. Its ear phones, mounted on a very adjustable piston and hinge system, can be positioned just over your ears so that you get the close-in sound of an earbud without the annoying feeling of plastic in your ear. It's easy to load MP3s from your computer—just connect the glasses and drag the files to the Thump folder like you were copying to an external drive. Windows users can even transfer purchased WMA tracks to the device, though you'll need Windows Media 10.

The Oakleys come in a range of styles, and include many standard Oakley features, such as XYZ optics, which allows for contoured lenses without distortion; Plutonite lens material that blocks 100% of all UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light; and impressive shock resistance. Two models with 256MB capacity also have polarized lenses, including the "Red Camo Lil Jon" signature version—at $550, they're the most expensive model.

Okay, so you can't imagine spending $550, or even $400, on high-tech sunglasses, especially ones you can't wear in many situations and, also especially, ones that you suspect make you look dorky. How about $200? That's the lowest priced pair of the cheaper iZon Digital sunglasses (available at izonstore.com), which lack Oakley's reputation for eyewear but nevertheless have a decent-sounding integrated MP3 player that's just as easy to load up on your PC. Instead of adjustable ear phones, the iZon has standard earbuds dangling from short wires, but at a distance the two pairs of sunglasses are practically indistinguishable.

If $200 still sounds pricey, I'm with you. They're fun, but they're also funny, and by that I mean funny looking. The woefully unhip won't be getting any cred for these, but Oakley and iZon sure hope they try.

Seagate-portable USB drive2

July 19, 2005

Adding extra file storage capacity to a desktop or laptop computer used to be a task that involved a screw driver and a blood sacrifice to the computer gods. That is definitely not the case these days, as the external hard drive market is booming. Instead of digging into the inner bowels of your computer to replace the actual hard drive with a newer / larger one, you can just plug in a stand alone hard drive for added file space. You can’t get much simpler than that folks.
External drives are available in various physical sizes and capacities. There are 5 GB pocket sized drives and large desktop only 300+ GB sized drives. The Seagate Technology Portable External Hard Drive that I’m going to talk about in this review falls somewhere in between big and small, so it adapts well to stationary desktop usage and on the road usage.

StealthSurfer II

July 17, 2005

I really find it disturbing that even if you are completely fastidious about purging temporary files, personal information can still be harvested from a computer's hard drive. What if you are on vacation and happen to use an internet cafe's computer? Or what if you are a student using a PC in one of your school's computer labs? If you go to a site that requires a password or if you order something from the internet with a credit card, that private information may or may not be obtainable by someone with harmful intentions. The Stealth Surfer is a product that completely does away with that worry, because it basically hijacks the host computer and forces data that would ordinarily go into a temporary file on the host's hard drive, into a folder on the StealthSurfer itself instead.

This year, the StealthSurfer I previously reviewed has undergone a major facelift, and the new model is going by the name StealthSurfer II. While the hardware remains (as best I can tell) exactly the same, there have been so many improvements to the software portion of this device that it is now world's ahead of where it was. The StealthSurfer II is available in 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1GB memory denominations. Once again, I was sent the 128MB.

In it's plastic case, the StealthSurfer II (SSII) measures 2.52" long (including the lid) and 0.83" wide x 0.3" thick. If the reinforcing case is completely removed, the SSII measures a secretive 1.7" long x 9.7" wide x 0.1" thick.

Specifications:Interface: USB 2.0, data transfer rate up to 480Mb/sec
Capacity: 128MB ~ 1 GB
Sustained Data Transfer Rate: Up to 8MB/secOS
Supported: Win 2000/XPPower Supply: DC 5V/3.3v +/-5%, through USB port
Power Consumption: <140 mALED Indicator for file access

'Half-Blood Prince' Hits Shelves

July 16, 2005

LONDON — At last! Faster than a turbo-powered broomstick, Harry Potter is flying off the shelves. Bookstores across Britain flung open their doors at a minute past midnight Saturday, London time, to admit hordes of would-be witches, warlocks and ordinary muggles — Potter-speak for non-magical humans.

All were eager to get their hands on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the latest volume of the boy wizard's adventures. Shops as far afield as Singapore and Australia put the 600-plus page book on sale at the same time.

"I'm going to read it all at once. I don't think I could stop once I got started," said Katrine Skovgaard, 18, who traveled from Denmark and waited in line for six hours before collecting her copy at a central London bookstore.

In Edinburgh, Scotland, author J.K. Rowling emerged from behind a secret panel inside the city's medieval castle to read an excerpt from the sixth chapter to a super-select group of 70 children from around the world.

Millions of Harry's fans can now solve the mysteries that Rowling teasingly hinted at for months: Will Harry's teenage friends Ron and Hermione find romance? Which major character will die? Who is the half-blood prince?

"You get a lot of answers in this book," Rowling, a resident of Edinburgh, said as she arrived at the castle and later settled into a leather easy chair before her adoring fans. "I can't wait for everyone to read it."
It has become publishing's most lucrative, frantic and joyous ritual: From suburban shopping malls to rural summer camps, fans dressed up, lined up and prepared to stay up late with their copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

In London, events were muted by the July 7 subway and bus bombings, which killed some 50 people. Book and magazine chain WH Smith scrapped a planned midnight launch at King's Cross Station, from whose fictional Platform 9 3/4 Harry catches the train to Hogwarts at the start of each term. The dealiest of the day's four attacks was on a subway near King's Cross.
Still, amid heightened security, hundreds of people lined up outside a branch of Waterstone's bookstore on busy Oxford Street, many dressed in homemade witch and wizard costumes. Some read Harry Potter books to pass the time, or played card games using Harry Potter decks.

"We're very much of the message that it's business as usual — London's open for business and we want to celebrate this book," said John Webb, children's buyer at Waterstone's, which said 300,000 people attended midnight openings at more than 100 stores across Britain.
In Australia, 17-year-old Mohammed Jalili-Baleh was first in a line of hundreds of would-be witches and warlocks at one of Sydney's largest bookstores. He and a friend spent more than 12 hours waiting on the chilly sidewalk.
"I'm an obsessed fan," he said. "They grip you. When you read one sentence, you don't want to put it down."

Elsewhere, summer camps were planning midnight wake-up calls and waiving package restrictions in anticipation of Half-Blood Prince, the penultimate of Rowling's planned seven-book series. One camp in New Hampshire even planned to forklift books to kids.
Since Rowling first introduced Harry and his fellow students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to the world in 1997, the books have become a global phenomenon, selling 270 million copies in 62 languages and inspiring a series of movies. Rowling is now the richest woman in Britain, with a fortune estimated by Forbes magazine at $1 billion.

With only brief interruptions, "Half-Blood Prince" has topped the charts of Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com since last December, when Rowling announced that she had completed it. Pre-orders worldwide already are in the millions and other Potter products are selling strongly, including the audio book narrated by Jim Dale, a "deluxe" edition of Half-Blood Prince and a box set of the previous five books.

Events were planned from New York City — where Dale was to read at a Barnes & Noble in Union Square — to Mexico City, where the Libreria Gandhi book store scheduled a midnight sale and a daylong Potter festival on Saturday, even though the book will be available only in English.
Publication has sparked a price war in England, with many chains selling the book for about half the $29.95 cover price. In the United States, the online retailer Alibris.com is offering $5, plus postage, for used copies. Scholastic Inc., Rowling's U.S. publisher, has also joined the competition, offering a 20% discount on its Web site.
"I am always disappointed when publishers sell books directly to the consumer, bypassing their retail partners," said Mitchell Kaplan, president of the American Booksellers Association. "Selling it at a discount makes it more frustrating."
Scholastic is releasing more than 10 million copies. Waterstone's predicts 2 million copies will be sold in Britain, where Bloomsbury publishes the book, and 10 million worldwide in the first 24 hours.

Amazon reported that advance orders of the "adult" edition, which bears a more muted cover than the children's version, were up 17% from the last book.
The new work has been preceded by months of carefully orchestrated publicity, hype and plot leaks, and surrounded by intense security. Amazon.co.uk has a secure 200,000-square-foot warehouse to pack the books. Canadian publisher Raincoast sought a court injunction after a Vancouver store accidentally sold 14 copies last week. A judge ordered customers not to discuss the book, copy it, sell it or read it before its release.
Even the pope is part of Pottermania. Writer Gabriele Kuby (author of Harry Potter — Good or Evil?) said that Pope Benedict XVI told her in letters written in 2003, when he was Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, that the books "deeply distort Christianity in the soul."

Super Mini Aluminium 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub

July 12, 2005

I have always had a thing for itty bitty gadgets, tools and gizmos. When I was a kid, I would put little things in a zippered pouch and call it my spy kit. Not that I ever actually did any spying mind you, but I was totally prepared for it should the occasion present itself.

It must be hereditary because now my 12 year old niece Jessica is always asking me for spy stuff. She must think I'm Jane Bond or something. So, it was only natural that when USB Geek started carrying the Super Mini Aluminum 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub, I knew I wanted to take a closer look if only because it is very small, made of metal and looks like something a spy might have in their gear bag.

Xbrand 360° Height Adjustable Laptop Stand
Review by Julie

Turning your notebook computer into a desktop replacement is commonplace these days. Who wants a large noisy tower anyway, when they can have a smaller quiet machine that they can also take with them when they travel. But once you start using a notebook as your main computer, you might start to notice little things that make you wish you had your desktop back. Things like viewing angle, a full size keyboard, etc. Of course you can prop the back of your notebook up on a thick phone book and hook up a separate keyboard to it, but that is so not the gadgeteer way! Enter the Xbrand 360° Height Adjustable Laptop Stand. This stand will not only keep your notebook in a perfect viewing angle, but will also keep it cool.

Google Declared 100 company

Google finds itself in top 100
GOOGLE, the fast-growing internet search company, today gained another feather in its cap after being named one of the world's 100 largest companies.

The firm - which boasts a market capitalisation in excess of £28 billion - has leapt from 279th place to 95th in the latest version of the FT Global 500 rankings.
Firms are ranked in order of their stock market value as of June 30.
The previous rankings were compiled at the end of March.
General Electric retains first place, followed by oil giant ExxonMobil, software heavyweight Microsoft and the world's biggest financial services firm, Citigroup.
Oil group Royal Dutch/Shell leap-frogged BP into fifth.
Meanwhile, several well-known names have dropped out of the rankings. For some, such as Telecom Italia Mobile, this reflects mergers, but other companies, including advertising group WPP and Sun Microsystems, have simply seen their shares fall out of favour.
In May, Google shattered Wall Street expectations with a near six-fold surge in quarterly profits.

The California-based group - best known for its google.com website - said more consumers had clicked on its search ads, more advertisers moved to the web and company costs fell.

Thought Of The Day

July 04, 2005
Make each challenge pay Challenge can make you stop, or it can make you unstoppable. It all depends on how you respond.

Challenge can compel you to make valuable improvements that you never would have attempted otherwise. Challenge can open your eyes to a whole new level of possibilities.
When the challenges come, gladly accept the energy that they have to give you. Greet each challenge with the expectation that it will make you stronger, more capable, more experienced, more effective.

Then jump right in and get to work on that challenge. The more quickly and enthusiastically you get started, the more real value you'll be able to gain.
Challenge will give you the opportunity to discover how very much you can accomplish. And knowing how much you can accomplish sets you up to accomplish even more.

When there is a challenge in your life, it's only a matter of time and effort before that challenge can be transformed into a real and lasting treasure. Take the time, put forth the effort, and you'll surely make each challenge pay.

manga-see first episode of encounter

July 03, 2005
http://www.japan.com/leisure/encounter.php

Test your brain...

What you will do when you afraid of something

What do you do when you are afraid of something?

1. When you are sleeping, and you hear some noises, what do you do? I will tell you what you do. Instead of getting your lazy-ass up, and finding out what it is, you prefer to think it was nothing, and get under your cover. What the hell? is your bed-cover made of steel and bullets can't get through? I don't think so, next time get up, and find what happened.

2. You are on the street, and you see a dog. The dog turns out to be a badass, he is about to kick your butt, and instead of you running away or asking for help, you start talking to the dog. What, do you think the dog can read your mind? since when can dogs understand English? what is even funnier is that you say something like "hey doggie, easy I won't do you any harm" and so what, even if he understood, do you think he would just think "o he isn't going to harm me, I'm going to my tree" NO the dog wants a fight. So next time, instead of doing that shit, do something smarter.

3. You are in the middle of the street, and you see a car far away. You see him gaining speed and coming right at you; you think that he can't hit you, since you are a pedestrian, but he keeps coming in faster. You think the same, and when he is just a few feet away from you, you just stay there. what do you do? you stay there like if the car was going to just stop a few inches next to you. Since when do cars have a motion technology that stops the car 100% when a human gets close? You just keep staring at the car, until he finally kicks your butt.
