A Matter of Choice..

Immaturity is thinking that you have all the answers. Wisdom is knowing that you don't.

Weakness is wanting to control everything around you. Strength is gracefully accepting and valuing what is.

Insecurity is the constant, gnawing desire to have more and more. Confidence is knowing that you already are enough.

Failure is thinking that you can advance yourself by pushing others down. Success is understanding that the more you lift others up, the more you'll be lifted yourself.

Despair is committing yourself to shallow, superficial things that too soon will wither and die. Joy is filling your world and your life with the things that truly matter.

Every moment, you are fully capable of living with wisdom, strength, confidence, success and joy. It's not a matter of chance, but always a matter of choice.

And you can make the choices now that will surely take you there.

Make Fire Using Ice?

August 21, 2005
Is it possible to make fire using ice. What do you think? The answer is yes.Just learn some technique and you're ready to go. Here one menthod explained by Rob Bicewivsk :

After having "played" with ice lenses last winter, I decided to push a little deeper in trying to perfect this form of fire-starting. These are the things I looked at:

Getting Clear Ice
How a Lens works and the Properties of a Good Ice Lens
How to Predictably Make a Good Lens "in the field"
How to Make an Almost Perfect Ice Lens
Eureka - it was always staring me in the Face!

Download Accelerator Plus 7.5

This download manager brings much more to the table than faster downloads, although it certainly makes file transfers quicker. Upon installation, the program asks for your e-mail address in the hopes of sending you special offers, but you don't actually need to submit any information to use Download Accelerator Plus. Still, it's not ideal that the program places an extra icon on your desktop without your express permission. Although the software is indeed free, the trade-off is the large ad that occupies the top portion of the interface. In most other respects, the tabbed main window is easy to use and navigate; we especially like the built-in player for previewing media files. The program also installs a handy toolbar in Internet Explorer and integrates with alternate browsers such as Firefox.

The adware is very annoying. Download GetRight because it segments downloads, allows you to pause them and downloads from multiple sources with NO adware or spyware. GetRight have just released a new beta version.

Joke of the day : Chief Samurai..

Once upon a time a powerful Emperor of the Rising Sun advertised
for a new Chief Samurai. After a year, only three applied for
the job: a Japanese, a Chinese and a Jewish Samurai.

“Demonstrate your skills!” commanded the Emperor. The Japanese
samurai stepped forward, opened a tiny box, and released a fly.
He drew his samurai sword and “swish”; the fly fell to the floor,
neatly divided in two!

“What a feat!” said the Emperor. “Number Two Samurai, show me
what you can do.”

The Chinese samurai smiled confidently, stepped forward and opened
a tiny box, releasing a fly. He drew his samurai sword and “swish,
swish”; the fly fell to the floor, neatly quartered!

“That is skill!” nodded the Emperor. “How are you going to top
that, Number three Samurai?”

Number Three Samurai stepped forward, opened a tiny box, released
one fly, drew his Samurai sword, and “swoooooosh” flourished his
sword so mightily that a gust of wind blew through the room. But
the fly was still buzzing around!

In disappointment, the Emperor said, “What kind of skill is that?
The fly isn’t even dead.”

“Dead, schmead,” replied the Jewish Samurai. “Dead is easy.
Circumcision.. THAT takes skill!”

Things You Can and Cannot Change

There are things that you can change, and there are things that you cannot change. Both have much value.

The things you can change can enble you to create, to achieve, to express yourself and to improve the world in which you live. The things you cannot change give you the opportunity to grow stronger, to develop real wisdom, patient, acceptance, flexibility and effectiveness.

There is much you can learn from the things you cannot change. And there are countless ways to possitively apply that learning toward the things you can change.

The things you cannot change give you a basefrom which to work. The things you can change give you an ever-increasing world of posibilities.

When you accept what you cannot change and find positive ways to deal with it, you lay the groundwork for success. When you under stand what you can change and find positive ways to put that change to work, success and achievement are yours.

You are fortunate to live in a world where there are things you can change ang thins you cannot. As each moment arrives, you are in a position to make the best of it all.

Scientists use plastic to make steel

This new discovery could possibly the next move to reduce waste plastics like shopping bags and dishwashing liquid containers. Plastics actually contain high enough levels of carbon to be useful in steelmaking. From CNN:

Australian scientists have developed a technique to use waste plastic in steel making, a process that could have implications for recycling scrap metal that accounts for 40 percent of steel production.

Professor Veena Sahajwalla of the University of New South Wales has won a prestigious Australian science award for what she calls "the hottest research in town", which she hopes will turn an environmental headache into a valuable resource.

Under the process, waste plastics are fed into electric steel-making furnaces as an alternative source of carbon and heated to super-hot temperatures of 1,600 degrees Celsius (2,912 Fahrenheit).

Mutant mice helping cure diseases

August 11, 2005

The number of mutant research mice has grown so dramatically in recent years that companies are now profiting by housing and breeding scientists' creations. From

CNN

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- They're being bred now by the millions, the mutants, created to carry the ghastliest of diseases for the benefit of the human race.

Since researchers published the mouse's entire genetic makeup in map form three years ago, increasingly exotic rodents are being created with relative ease.

There's the Schwarzenegger mouse -- injected with muscle-building genes. The marathon mouse, which never seems to tire. Researchers recently engineered some mice to be extremely addicted to nicotine, and others to be immune to scrapie, a close cousin to the brain-wasting mad cow disease. And scientists are in hot pursuit of a Methuselah mouse, able to cheat death long after its natural brethren meet their maker.

Millions of these and other mutant mice are routinely created now, by injecting disease-causing genes or "knocking out" genes in mouse embryos. Their decreasing cost and increasing availability is helping researchers in pursuit of all manner of disease cures.

Running more than The One Firefox Season

This is not a fake. The trick is to run diffrence Firefoxs with diffrent username but all are using the same display. Diffrent user means diffrent cookie set,and diffrent Gmail season.

Follow the these steps to spawn a new Firefox session:

1. Create a new user if you haven’t done so.

2. Note the display identifier used by current X session: echo $DISPLAY

3. Disable X authentication: xhost +, warning: this will disable authentication for X, this is a security hole if your X allows remote connections (which my Gentoo box doesn’t by default)

4. Switch to the new user: su - newuser

5.Change the DISPLAY variable to match step 1, for example: export DISPLAY=:0.0

6. Run Firefox: firefox &

Needless to say, this trick will also work for Yahoo, MSN, and all web sites using cookie based authentication that won’t allow multiple logins to the same site.

Jokes of the day : Circle Flies

August 05, 2005
A policeman pulls over a motorist for speeding. While he's writing the ticket, flies keep buzzing around his head, annoying him considerably.

"Circle flies sure are bad this year, aren't they?" says the motorist.
"But I've never heard of a circle fly before. What's that?" ask the policeman.

"Well," the motorist responds, "circle flies tend to circle around a horse's rear end. That's why they call 'em circle flies."The policeman, catching the implication, replies,
"Well, that's very interesting. But it strikes me that you might be trying to call me a horse's ass".

"Oh, no sir!" responds the motorist. "No, sir, not at all. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement officers, and would never dream of implying that one of them was a horse's ass. No, sir, I'm terribly sorry if that's how it sounded."

"Admit it you mean it!!," replied the policeman."No sir!," the motorist continued, "but there's just no fooling those circle flies, is there?"
