Books of Sand

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Books of Sand are interactive installations that relate the movement of hands in the sand to hypertexts taken from the Web. Each installation consists of an 85 cm. side glass bucket full of sand that when touching it with the hands, projected codes retrieved from the Web arise interacting with the movement of the hands. The text moves as a fluid and disappears later.
Both buckets constitute two interfaces that involve a tactile game; the sand is the background substance for the unfolding of the hypertexts of which the Web immense dynamical memory is constituted.
Information, like the sand and the text, are indistinguishable and innumerable ones; they take their form by virtue of the inclusive-categorizing gesture of the hands at that precise moment.

The car that makes its own fuel

A unique system that can produce Hydrogen inside a car using common metals such as Magnesium and Aluminum was developed by an Israeli company. The system solves all of the obstacles associated with the manufacturing, transporting and storing of hydrogen to be used in cars. When it becomes commercial in a few years time, the system will be incorporated into cars that will cost about the same as existing conventional cars to run, and will be completely emission free.

Top Richest Man Ever.

It would be too easy to rank the world's richest people today. You could simply take the founders of some of the top firms in the world, sort them by the value of holdings in their company and voila! At AskMen, we have consulted with economists, financiers and historians to rank some of the most influential men in the history of humanity, as ranked by wealth in 2001 US Dollars (some figures are approximate as they take into consideration inflation, GDP growth, currency exchange rates, and fluctuations in share prices).

The Best Science Photographs of 2005

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The picture at the top is one of the winner of the best photograph in 2005.

This tiny shrimp fearlessly enters the mouth of a fish to clean its teeth. Fish value this service as the shrimp removes and eats harmful parasites. The shrimp lives in the sea anemone in the background. Fish recognize the anemone as a cleaning station, and when they need a clean they approach it and open their mouths, encouraging the shrimp in. This is mutualism - a form of
symbiosis in which both partners benefit.

'Naughty' Digital Camera Lense Launched

October 25, 2005

I guess many people will buy this lense! You must be wondering what's so special about this lense? I think it must be suprising when I say that this lense can make your eyes see through something that you can't see with your naked eyes. Here I give you the decription about this lense

The lense that could well result in it being banned because of its perve potential is called the "Infrared See-Through Filter PF". The PF is a special optical device that helps to visually penetrate an object's surface in order to view whatever lies below. The PF makes it possible for you to see images that are normally invisible to the human eye. It sounds like science-fiction but it isn't, this new product has been developed using newly developed advanced optical technology.

I know you'll asking, how did it works? Here the answer about that question.

The answer lies in infrared rays. All reflected light that we can see with the naked eye represents a fractional portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, which is infinite. We refer to this section as "visible light". All around us, light is reflected which the human retina cannot detect, such as ultraviolet and infra-red radiation.

Below is one of the example to prove you about this lense. You can see more example at this website. [via]

The Solar Road Stud is a solar powered road bump with an aluminum alloy and polycarbonate housing that uses super bright LED's to provide illumination. Sunday's Games : Poom!

Here is an interesting and clever game called Poom.

A ball drop from the ceiling, and you control a little grid of flat squares with your mouse below it. Your goal is to move the grid around so that, you bounce the ball; if you accidentally move an empty part of the grid baneath the ball, it fall down and you lose. Sounds easy right? Except every times the ball bounces, the grid changes. It give you barely a milisecond to quickly figure out where to shift it to next.

Give your self half hour to play it. It's very additive game. I bet.[via]

Fat Controller snow glove was announced recently.
The glove controls your iPod wirelessly. It uses radio frequencies to relay instructions to your iPod's module. Also, it's water resistant. Check it out.

The ‘Fat Controller’ uses radio frequencies to relay instructions to a module installed on top of the iPod. Tune selection is managed from a small, thumb-controlled joystick woven in to the top of the right-hand glove that mirrors the behavior of the iPod’s scroll wheel. By nudging the joystick to different points of the compass the wearer can play/pause, adjust volume and skip tracks without having to remove the iPod from the inner sanctums of a snowboard jacket.

From growingtreetoy's site

3D Pool Table challenges players to play both horizontally and vertically on the 3 levels of pool surface - the player to get the balls to the bottom first wins! But, since balls can go both up and down from the corner "pockets," and kids can send them to different levels with little effort, this game requires some strategy and skill. Zocker Toys 3D Pool Game Table comes with 2 wooden cue sticks, 2 cue balls, 8 game balls (4 for each player), and a 3-level table made with durable fabric and impact resistant plastic. With rubber feet, this 3D Pool Game Table can be played on any surface, including tables, and makes for some big time fun as it measures 36"x25"x22"H when assembled![via]

Oldest Raptor Ever Found in South America

This birdlike dinasour is oldest raptor ever found in south america!Checkout the info about it. Below is one of the decription about it.

The recent discovery of a 90-million-year-old dinosaur in Patagonia demonstrates that dromaeosaurs, a group of carnivorous theropods that includes Velociraptor and is closely related to birds, originated much earlier than previously thought. Rather than originating during the Cretaceous, dromaeosaurs can now be traced back to the Jurassic, possibly as far back as 180 million years ago. Meanwhile, the new dinosaur's birdlike features--its huge, hollow wishbone; long, winglike forelimbs; and bird-like pelvis--provide more evidence linking dinosaurs to birds.
